Faith Coffee Company
Kassie Johnson considers herself a restless person – she likes to keep both her mind and body busy. One early outlet for that energy was knitting and crochet. But eventually she needed something more – a coffee and tea business to be exact. Alongside her mother, Kassie started Faith Coffee Company in Glenrock, making the rounds at farmers’ markets, craft fairs and beyond. Anyone who has tried to make a go of a home-based business knows just how much extra energy such an endeavor requires. So it turns out Kassie and a coffee business were a great match (despite the fact she was a consumer of neither coffee nor tea at the time the business began). Mom asked her to try a flavored variety, she was impressed, and the story began.
Five years in, Kassie is licensed and working in a commercial kitchen. She has built a business supported largely by loyal, repeat customers who get their coffee fix from basic brews like Blonde Faith and Foglifter, but also those dessert-like, flavored concoctions such as Blueberry Cobbler, her bestseller. Her arabica beans are all handpicked and ethically sourced, free trade. She uses two separate roasters, relying on each to do what they do best. Kassie uses twenty different sources to blend her looseleaf teas, experimenting with flavors like calendula and violet, and using her husband Ben as a taste tester. She has plans to try to grow tea ingredients in her own garden as well, mostly flowers suited to Wyoming summers. Kassie says what sets her apart is her bean sourcing, exceptional flavors and the Swiss water method used to create her decaf coffees.
