Our Pastured Pork is raised on pasture year-round and fed a variety of food scraps including whole-wheat bread, organic locally-raised produce, spent grains from our local brewer, restaurant scraps (excluding meat), and garden waste. Pigs just love to root around and dig up things and we use them to influence plant communities where shrubs and weeds have taken over and starved out grasses. These pigs are truly ecosystem influencers and using them has prevented the need for herbicide applications and practices that use a lot of diesel fuel like brush-hogging and mowing. These pigs are the pride of our operation as they grow completely on food waste and nothing else. You can truly feel good about purchasing pork from Taste of the Wind knowing that in doing so you are reducing waste, and supporting small-scale ag without the need for herbicides or use of large equipment.
